Description
Late Monday night the rain finally arrived and like the final scene in a horror movie, the monster was beat back. By 6 A.M., the official rain gauge in Gatlinburg received .73 of an inch. Every drop helped firefighters contain the blaze. More rain would come in the following days. In her oral history, Gatlinburg city manager Cindy Cameron Ogle said that without the rain," The fires would have gone to Douglas Lake"
